About the area
Devonport, both sides of the Mersey.
Devonport is the coast’s biggest and most urban town — the ferry-port city on the Mersey, with the densest CBD on the North-West and a lot more units, townhouses and body-corporate buildings than Burnie or Wynyard. East Devonport sits across the river over the Victoria Bridge, a distinct pocket of its own.
Devonport's the biggest, densest patch on the coast — and that density brings its own headache: with so many homes and networks packed in close, Wi-Fi interference is real. That's where modern gear earns its keep, with Wi-Fi 7 and hard-wired connections wherever it makes sense. It's the kind of work I'm genuinely into — structured cabling, networking, and the multi-unit and strata jobs that come with a city like Devonport.

Why local matters
What makes a Devonport install different.
Your Devonport antenna is horizontal
Devonport's TV comes off the Quoiba transmitter on UHF 34–39, and it's horizontally polarised — unlike Burnie's Round Hill and Wynyard's Table Cape. That means the antenna sits at ninety degrees to how it would in those towns. A small thing, but it makes all the difference to a clean picture here.
Wi-Fi that cuts through the noise
In a dense town like Devonport, all the neighbouring networks talk over each other and Wi-Fi gets congested. I sort it with modern gear — Wi-Fi 7 where it helps — and by hard-wiring the things that matter, so your connection stays fast even when the airwaves are crowded.
Council cameras watch the mall — not your shop
Devonport City runs 100-plus public cameras, but they cover public space only. Your shopfront interior, stockroom and after-hours coverage are still yours to sort — with anti-vandal housings on the exposed Rooke Street and Formby Road frontages.

Devonport questions
Common questions from Devonport.
Why does a Devonport antenna sit differently to one in Burnie?
Devonport’s signal comes from the Quoiba transmitter and it’s horizontally polarised — the opposite of Burnie and Wynyard. The antenna is turned ninety degrees, which is worth knowing if you’re comparing setups.
Do you do units, townhouses and body-corporate buildings?
Yes — this is one of the reasons Devonport work suits me. I handle shared risers, common-property cabling and MDU lead-ins, and I get written body-corporate approval before touching anything shared.
Does gear near the water need to be different to inland?
It does. Down on the Bluff, the CBD waterfront and East Devonport I spec marine-grade housings and stainless fixings; up at Stony Rise and Tugrah, a few kilometres inland, standard gear is fine. No point over- or under-building it.
