About the area

Wynyard, the Cape and the beaches.

Wynyard sits at the mouth of the Inglis River, around 6,300 people, and it’s a town of very different pockets: the flat riverside township, the exposed Table Cape headland, and the holiday-shack settlements out at Sisters Beach and Boat Harbour Beach.

I’m only about twenty minutes up the coast in Burnie — a lot closer than the Devonport and Launceston operators who usually travel in. That matters most when a shack alarm trips or something needs a quick look.

Why local matters

What makes a Wynyard install different.

Aimed at Table Cape

Wynyard's free-to-air comes off the Table Cape transmitter, on different channels to Burnie's Round Hill. A good wideband UHF antenna handles both — the trick is aiming it at the right tower and setting it up for the local signal. Get that right and you've got the full channel list.

I know the fixed-wireless country

Out at Sisters Beach and the beaches it's all NBN Fixed Wireless — I used to install it around here, so I know exactly how these connections behave. That means cameras and systems set up to work within it: recording on-site, and kept simple so they stay reliable on rural internet.

Built for Table Cape wind and salt

The headland and the beachfronts take the full brunt of Bass Strait. I fit marine-grade housings, stainless fixings and masts rated for that wind — not the plain steel that rusts out and falls to pieces in a couple of seasons.

Wynyard questions

Common questions from Wynyard.

How far is Wynyard from you, and do you charge to come out?

About twenty minutes from Burnie. I'm out in Wynyard, Table Cape and the beaches regularly, and I won't charge you travel to get there — give me a call and I'll sort you out.

Why does my antenna point somewhere different from Burnie?

Wynyard's signal comes from the Table Cape transmitter, on different channels to Burnie's Round Hill. A good UHF antenna handles both — it just needs aiming at the right tower for a clean picture.

Can you set up cameras for a holiday house at Sisters Beach or Boat Harbour?

Yes — that's a good chunk of what I do out there. Cameras that record on-site and work within the Fixed Wireless internet these areas run on, so you can keep an eye on the place while you're away.
